scenes of a river city
Scenes of a River City (2024) is a series of paintings depicting various places in Whanganui, New Zealand - a small town located on the west coast of the North Island.
I was born and grew up there, so this exhibition was very important to me - it was a sort of love letter to Whanganui, and a goodbye, as I moved away with my family to Melbourne, Australia. There was something special about having my first solo exhibition in the same town I grew up in, a full-circle moment I will forever cherish. ♡
solitude vs loneliness
This is my NZQA Level 3 Painting Board that was selected to be a part of the New Zealand Top Art Tour 2024.
The theme I chose was solitude vs loneliness - the way solitude can turn to loneliness so quickly was something that interested me but was also something I feared.NZQA Top Art is an annual touring exhibition that tours around New Zealand, showcasing the top year 13 art portfolios in each medium - painting, printmaking, photography, design and sculpture - from the year before, only choosing 20 or so for each practice out of over 2,500 students.
